I could say that in a million years, I never imagined myself doing what I do. As a little girl growing up in St. Petersburg, Russia, playing dress-up with my fashionably deprived dolls, I never thought that someday it would turn into a real profession. It was the late ‘80s and America soon became home – home of not only great opportunity, but of big shoulder pads, overindulgent accessories and era of the Supermodel. I learned English by reading my Vogues and Elles, learned to dress by watching Madonna, and I just had a feeling that something would come of all this… someday.
“Fashion now isn’t about how big your diamonds are, or the logo on your bag, it’s about having the freedom to work without a formula,” said Alber Elbaz. I couldn’t have said it better myself. There are no rights or wrongs when it comes to my work - working without a formula. No such thing as no-white after Labor Day, horizontal lines for skinny girls only… and absolutely no such thing as settling for what’s right in front of you and never digging deeper.
For the past several years I have been working as a wardrobe stylist in Boston and New York. I have worked with some of the most amazing and talented photographers, hair and makeup artists and models. They have taught me everything from working at lightning speed to the precise way of standing when being photographed. I have had the chance to work with some of the country’s top editors, stylists and PR Queens, who have been my greatest mentors… and they have convinced me that this is, without a doubt, the best job in the world! I have also written numerous articles on fashion, style, bridal fashions, beauty and lifestyle topics.
I am a wardrobe consultant for many lucky Bostonians; analyzing their closets, their style needs and what they’d like to shop for in the future. Check out the Personal Stylist link for more info… And find all the top style news on my Facebook page!
