Outdoor Style: Rattan, Wicker & Basketweave
When the weather warms up, our outdoor space becomes an extension of our home, and we spend as much time outside as possible. And every year, I like to rework the design a bit to make it a little different than the year before. I choose a style I’m really digging and go with it! This year, I wanted to add to the Palm Beach/Capri/bohemian vibe that I initially built the whole patio around, and fell in love with everything rattan and wicker. I added rattan inspired furniture (blog post on this coming soon.. stay tuned!), found some gorgeous rattan lanterns and beautiful tabletop accessories to bring everything together. What I really love about these accessories is that because of their brown rustic color, I can reuse them for my fall/Thanksgiving tablescapes as well!
Here are a few photos of the pieces I’ve incorporated in my design. I found these oversized rattan lanterns at the beginning of spring at Home Goods and placed these two on one side of the doorway landing, and then one on the other side for some balance. And for the tablescape, I used these beautiful rattan hurricanes, basketweave pillar vases that could also be used as lanterns, and rattan charger plates that I bought at Pier 1 Imports last year.
Have fun with this style… it’s not supposed to be taken seriously. After all, you’re creating a setting for a chill spot, cool summer afternoons, lemonade or rosé with a beautiful cheese platter with friends, a low-key setting for that summer serenity you’ve been waiting for.
Here are a few inspirations to get you started on your backyard oasis…. And find below, linked rattan pieces that I’m really loving for this season!
